Downtown Medford or Old Towne as the locals refer to it has that old fashioned small town feeling. It is easy to imagine horse-drawn carts and ladies with parasols and high-topped shoes strolling around during the yearly festivals. In April, Medford has the Pear Blossom Festival. There is a parade and a 13k run. The Rogue Valley was instrumental in developing the pear and other agricultural farming in southern Oregon. Art in Bloom festival happens on Mother’s Day and in summer, the Medford Cruise weekend plays host to classic cars with a ’50’s flair. In fall, the Microbrewer’s Festival introduces local brewers.

A big event takes place in Ashland at the Southern Oregon Shakespeare Festival. To get to the theater, take Interstate 5 south out of Medford. Then, take exit 19 and go right.
